Samsung Galaxy Note gets the Android 4.0 treatment, unoffically.

Hackers have been able to port Android 4.0 OS onto the Samsung Galaxy Note and make it work quite well.

A video doing the rounds on the internet shows off the developments, which even in their early stages are quite impressive.

The YouTube video features ICS and CyanogenMod 9 at work on the Galaxy Note.

The 13 minute long video shows a user accessing the settings menu to confirm that it is indeed the CM 9 on the device. Then the user operates the Google search engine and the Note responds quickly, even when the user changes from the portrait to the landscape profile and back again.

Basic features like talk, data and Wi-Fi work well with the ICS update. Even the s-pen / stylus works fine. Other functions like calculator, calendar, clock etc all perform as usual too.

The features that still need to be work are the camera and Bluetooth functions of the handset. According to Android Community, accessing the internal storage with MTP is still a challenge.

Since the port is still in the developmental stages and is not totally fool-proof yet, so it is advisable to wait a while before downloading it. In fact, Samsung may not even be too far from releasing an official ICS port for the Galaxy Note itself, given that the device works so well with the OS.

Here's the video:
