DataWind has sold out of its Aakash tablets and is struggling to keep up with demand
Published on Jan 4, 2012
Akash Tablet manufacturer, Datawind is having a hard time keeping up with the soaring demand for its ultra-cheap tablet, which has now sold out.
The Aakash tablet may just be the most sought after device in India right now. The low priced, Indian made machine has got over 1.4 million bookings under its belt and purchasers are waiting eagerly to get their hands on the device that promises to make IT a reality for every Indian.
Pre-orders for the tablet have been EPIC. So much so that DataWind has not been able to produce enough units to keep up with the ever increasing demand.
Datawind has reportedly set up three new factories to get the production of its Aakash tablets back on track.
Still though, this current delay in delivery and inventory is going to affect a lot of people who pre-ordered the device.
The story for Aakash’s big brother, the higher-end UbiSlate 7+ is the same – the tablet is sold out untill at least February.
