The release date for Apple's iPhone 5 has been confirmed.
A research note from an investment bank reveals the arrival of iPhone 5 in fall 2012.
The iPhone 5 rumors have been spinning around since the launch of the iPhone 4.
The highly anticipated smartphone is rumored to sport a large 4-inch screen. We also hear that it will come with a metal casing, probably aluminum.
It will also support a rubber or plastic material running along the side of the device, which will help with better call quality and reception.
It is also likely that iPhone 5 may drop its teardrop-shaped version that was widely publicized in 2011.
According to CNET, Tavis McCourt of Morgan Keegan believes that the iPhone 5 combined with the release of Apple TV, as well as the iPad 3, will contribute to yet another year of success for the company.
He added: 'we expect iPhone 5 in fall 2012 to be a significant revenue and earnings growth driver, and a potential Apple TV as upside to our model if it comes to fruition this year.'
McCourt further estimates that the iPhone shipments for the period will hit 29 million, an increase over the previous estimate of 27 million.
Surprisingly there was no mention of the iPad 3 in the note. Expected to be launched in March, the third generation iPad is expected to support a thicker (0.7mm) frame in order to accommodate the twin light bar system essential for its higher-resolution display.
The device is also rumored to run on Samsung’s quad-core A6 processor, which is more powerful than the dual-core A5 processor seen in iPad 2.
There is high possibility that we may get a glimpse of the next generation iPad 3 at iWorld which will be held on January 26, 2012.
