The Google tablet PC is reportedly aiming at Amazon's 7-inch Kindle Fire.

After releasing the world's first Android 4.0 smartphone, Galaxy Nexus, the search giant is now looking at bringing a Android 4.0 powered Google tablet.

Needless to say, the news has got everybody excited.

Earlier last month, Google's chairman Eric Schimdt was heard saying to an Italian newspaper Corriere della Sea that the company will be bringing in a 'a tablet of the highest quality' within the next six months.

Schimdt further indicated that the tablet will be stronger and sharper leading many to speculate it as a rival to the Apple iPad.

However according to the latest news, Google with it Android 4.0 tablet is gunning for Amazon's Kindle Fire and not Apple iPad, as was earlier believed.

According to Digitimes, 'sources from Google's upstream supply chain believe that Google, instead of Apple, may actually be targeting Amazon's 7-inch Kindle Fire as its major competitor.'

It further said that as Google executive chairman has not disclosed any details about the device which, 'has left many players to believe that Google will copy its strategy from Nexus smartphone to help expanding Android tablet PC's market share.'

Priced competitively at US$199 ( Rs 9,950 approx), Google tablet PC is expected to launch somewhere in March-April this year.

We look forward to seeing the Google tablet and if it is able to garner a mass appeal like it rival.
