Corning will unveil the successor to Gorilla Glass 2 at CES 2012

Corning is limbering up for the unveiling of its Gorilla Glass 2 at CES 2012.
The company has not revealed any information about the capabilities of the upcoming sequel to its current market-leading Gorilla Glass, but it is rumored to be stronger and thinner.
We also hear that it will be much more flexible and provide space for manufacturers to be a little bit more creative, like what we saw in case of Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nokia Lumia 800 with curved edges.
The new glass is targeted towards manufacturers who want to build slimmer devices.
General Manager of Corning Speciality Materials, James Steiner said:
‘Handset and tablet device manufacturers are clearly driving toward higher functionality from thinner designs. Corning’s latest innovation in Gorilla Glass technology is very well positioned to meet these challenges.’
The company has also announced that it will exhibit an 82-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen and a Gorilla Glass video wall complete with fancy glass speakers to show its capabilities.
