Asus Transformer Prime gets updated to Android 4.0 today – well ahead of schedule

The Tegra 3-powered Asus Eee Transformer Prime will receive its much awaited Android 4.0 upgrade today.
The announcement of the update came via Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Haung. At CES 2012. Haung told the audience that the Ice Cream Sandwich update would begin from today as opposed to later this week.
The quad-core tablet was earlier scheduled to receive the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update on January 12, 2012.
A sharper, faster performance, revamped address book, re-sizable widgets and enhanced GPS capabilities are some of the key elements that the update will bring to Asus' flagship tablet.
The OTA rollout is expected to begin immediately, so keep a eye on your Transformer Prime devices.
Asus brings the Android 4.0 update to Transformer Prime just in time to compete with its major rivals (and arrivals) of this year - the Iconia Tab A700, Lenovo IdeaTab S2 10 and Toshiba Excite X10.
At CES 2012 event, Asus surprised its audience with two more exciting offerings.
The company released a spruced up version of Transformer Prime. Dubbed TF700T Transformer Prime, which sports a 1920x1200 pixel resolution HD display - quite a step up from the earlier 1280x800 pixels.
The company also announced a Tegra 3-powered 'Prime Mini' tablet. Priced at $249, the 7-inch tablet will be powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
With its powerful lineup of tablets, Asus stands a strong chance to establish itself as a major player in the tablet market this year.
