Fujitsu is ready to release a quad-core smartphone in the coming months. It showed off a prototype of the device at the CES 2012 in Las Vegas.
The new smartphone from Fujitsu runs on Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor that powers its many sophisticated applications. An additional fifth core ensures that the device uses less power when heavy applications are not in use.
The Japanese manufacturer’s phone is perfect for hours and hours of gaming. At CES, Fujitsu demonstrated how smoothly Riptide GP can be played on the handset. In fact, the phone was able to run the game on its own display as well as on an external monitor with ease.
The smartphone also sports a 4.6-inches HD display and an impressive 13.1MP camera, making it a very desirable handset for those who like to use their phones to shoot and playback videos and still pictures.
The prototype runs on Android’s ICS OS and offers LTE speed and HDMI and DLNA connectivity. As GSMarena found, although Fujitsu’s phone has some pretty impressive specs, these haven’t been locked in yet and are subject to change before the phone’s official release.
Fujitsu’s new offering will be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2012 though the company hasn’t released a statement on its pricing yet. The smartphone will most likely start retailing in Japan by the summer and hit the rest of the world by fall.
