Published on Jan 11, 2012

Sony has launched its first handset Sony Xperia S, independent of the Ericsson brand. We bring you the first look at this super stunning device.

Sony Xperia Ion boasts of a whopping 4.6-inch screen with 1280x720 pixels display. The display colours give you a life-like feel. It is due to the Mobile Bravia Reality Display technology that was showcased last year on Xperia Arc. This display technology offers a laminated and gapless screen which reminds you of the iPhone 4.

A dual core smartphone was expected from the Sony stable and we were happy to see Sony Ion powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon processor.

The device packs in a impressive 12-megapixel rear camera with Exmor R Sensor and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera.

Sony Ion has been launched with Android, 2.3, but the good news is that the company has announced a  Android Ice Cream Sandwich as upgrade is in the pipeline.

Also this Android smartphone is Playstation Certified - this means Ion stands a fair chance of being titled as a the next best gaming device.

Ion is exciting on a whole. Also the smartphone is not only dock compatible but according to Sony you can control the phone from any TV remote and enjoy large display on your cozy couch.

Ion is also NFC (Near field communication) enabled and includes Smart Tags.

However the price and release date of the device has not been communicated but we hope to see the other details revealed soon.
