Motorola has rolled out its Android 2.3.5 update for the Motorola Fire XT.

Priced at Rs 8,999, this mid-range budget smartphone fired up the Indian mobile market with its entry last year.

Motorola had been aiming to capture the smartphone market for sometime and with the Motorola Fire XT (and Fire) it managed to hit the nail right on the head.

Packed with a full Qwerty keypad, 2.8-inch touch screen and a descent 3-mega pixel camera with digital zoom, Motorola Fire XT's ability to multitask and provide a intuitive and fast interaction made it a hit among the young population.

This 2G/3G enabled phone with 32GB  external memory support and 1420 mAh battery life offers 10 hours of talk time and connectivity through GPRS and Wi-Fi to mobile users.

While Motorola has not specified the improvements that the new update will bring we are bound to see some minor bug fixes, improved battery life and a enhanced user interface.

According to Androidadvices, some other enhancements can be seen in Gmail application, camera software and shadow animation for list scrolling.

To update the Motorola Fire XT smartphone visit Motorola Software update tool on the Motorola India website. Before the update make sure that you backup all your data and your smartphone is fully charged to avoid bricking your device. The update is expected to last around 20-25 minutes.

To check if the update has been successfully installed, go to Menu->Settings->About Phone. Check the Android version displayed under it. If the Android 2.3.5 version is not indicated repeat the update process.

Apart from Motorola Fire XT, Motorola Droid Razr, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Incredible S, Desire HD and Wildfire S also received a Android 2.3.5 update recently.
