Release date and prices of Sony's 2012 smartphones leaked online

A leaked Sony sales report from India reveals the prices and release dates of their upcoming and unannounced smartphones

A leaked sales report from Sony has revealed the official launch date and prices of the company's upcoming Android smartphones for 2012.

The leaked list also contains the names of the unannounced Android powered smartphones slated for release later this year.

GSM Arena who got hold of the document mention that 'these code names and not likely to be called the same after launch.'

The prices of the devices for the Indian consumers will be:

Kumquat - Rs 16,914

Nypon - Rs 23,907

Pepper - Rs 19,901

Tapioca - Rs 9,433

Tapioca_DS - Rs 10,464

Hayabusa - Rs 31,845

Mint_I   - Rs 36,302

We have been hearing that Sony will launch Tapioca, Pepper and Nypon at the upcoming MWC next month. The three smartphones pack in stunning specs and will fall under the low, mid-range and highend category.

There is big buzz around high-end Sony Ericsson’s Nypon which will ship with Sony’s WhiteMagic display. The dual-core smartphone will pack along a 4-inch display with a resolution of 540x960 pixels, 8.1- megapixel camera and 1080p video recording capabilities.

The Sony Ericsson Pepper will be a mid-range Android Gingerbread smartphone powered by ST-Ericsson chipset. It will be seen sporting a 3.7-inch reality display with FWVGA (480 x 854) resolution, 5-mega pixel camera capable of 720p HD video recording and a 1320mAh battery,

Lastly the Tapioca, as you would have guessed from the pricing will be a low range Android smartphone. The smartphone will be powered by a 800MHz processor and come integrated with a 3-megapixel camera and 3.2-inch display with 320x480screen resolution.

The Tapioca will house 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage and will be available in four different colors.

We don't have information on the other products yet. Among the unannounced smartphones we look forward to see the high-end Hayabusa and Mint-I.

Sony has a lot up its sleeves this year. We bet the fans are happy, we definitely are.
