Samsung has unveiled its next generation entry-level Star handset – the Star 3.

The Star 3 aims to pick up where the Star 2 left off. In fact, the new phone looks and feels a lot like its predecessor.

For a phone of its class, the Star 3 packs quite a punch with its good looks and smart features. Of course, some hardware details of the Star 3 are the same as those of the Star II, which was released a year ago.

This handset, like its predecessor, has a 3-inch capacitive QVGA LCD display, a 1000 mAh battery and a 3.2MP fixed focus camera with QCIF video capture capabilities.

Where the Star 3 differs from the Star II is in its display resolution. The new phone has a resolution of 240x320 pixels whereas the Star II has a resolution of 240x400 pixels.

The Star 3 weighs 95gm with dimensions of 102x58x11.5mm. This GSM mobile also works on EDGE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It features 20MB of RAM amd a MicroSD card (16GB).

Samsung’s new handset also includes FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack. It uses the TouchWiz Lite UI and allows users to stay in touch with Samsung ChatON, which comes pre-installed on the phone.

Samsung ChatON is an easy-to-use cross platform service that allows users to sign in without an ID or password.

Fans of Samsung’s Star series don’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the Star 3. As reported by Esato, it is scheduled to release by the end of the month in Russia and is expected to roll out in Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia shortly after.
