With its new top management in place, Canada-based RIM has made some big plans for 2012/2013.
The manufacturer is looking at releasing sophisticated new devices including a new BlackBerry 10 smartphones, 2 Curve handsets and a HSPA+ PlayBook.
In the Curve series, RIM plans to release the BlackBerry Curve 9230 and the BlackBerry Curve 9320. The former will be compatible with Edge while the latter will be an HSPA+ device. Both these phones will most likely appear within the next few months.
RIM is hoping to capture a slice of the tablet market as well, with the launch of a new PlayBook around May or June. The PlayBook will be powered by a 1.5GHz processor and will offer support for HSPA+ 42Mbps cellular data and NFC.
A new BlackBerry 10 smartphone will launch under the Bold series around the end of the year too. This phone will feature both, a QWERTY keypad and a touchscreen. According to BGR, who got its hands on BlackBerry's road plan for the coming year, a QWERTY slider running BlackBerry 10 will be unveiled in Q1 of 2013 as well.
While RIM gets its new devices in place, it will release the much talked about and eagerly awaited BlackBerry London as was earlier planned, in September.
RIM has been in the news for the all wrong reasons off late. With a new management and a new plan in place, 2012 might just be the year it makes its big comeback.
