Huawei has released its Honeycomb-powered MediaPad in India for Rs 28,000.
At Rs 28,000 price tag, Huawei MediaPad looks frightfully expensive, in comparison to similar speced tablets like Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Zoom, Samsung 750 who have slashed their prices significantly.
We assume that the price tag may have something to do with the Android 4.0 update announcement that the company made earlier this month.
At CES 2012 the Chinese company announced that while the new batch of MediaPads' will be shipped with Android 4.0 the older ones will be able to upgrade OTA in the first of half of this year.
The company also unveiled its new range of fashionable Android 2.3 powered MediaPads. The new colorful tablets available in shadow black, classic brown, and passion pink are definitely a welcome break from the usual staid black and white tablets currently flooding the market.
These MediaPads' are expected to arrive in selected countries in the first quarter of 2012.
Launched in June 2011, Huawei's MediaPad was credited as being the world’s first 7-inch tablet to come preloaded with Android Honeycomb OS.
Huawei MediaPad features a 7-inch LCD touchscreen designed on the In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, that brings smooth navigation experience while utilizing low power.
The technology also facilitates a high color definition and provides wide viewing angles. Strapped at the back of the device is a 5-megapixel primary camera with an LED Flash while a 1.3-megapixel camera rests on the front.
The camera also supports HD video recording at 1280 x 720 pixels. The visual effect is also enhanced with the inclusion of Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS), a powerful active pixel sensor which delivers crystal clear video output.
The highly portable device comes with an 8 GB onboard storage which can be extended with a microSD up to 32 GB. On the connectivity front the tablet packs in Wi-Fi, v2.1 Bluetooth and supports 3G connectivity. The tablet also comes pre-installed with Huawei Office, pushmail integration and popular apps like Angry Birds, Asphalt 6 and Lets golf.
With a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion dual core processor and a powerful 4100 mAh battery, Huawei MediaPad makes for a powerful beast.
Huawei Media can be purchased from online shopping portals: LetsBuy, Flipkart, Naaptol and Adexmart for Rs 28,000.
