Apple’s popularity is growing by leaps and bounds in the corporate world as its devices are perceived as perfect to strike a work-life balance with. After grabbing the ‘for personal use’ smartphone and tablet market, a recent study suggests that the company has been taking the corporate world by storm too.
Forrester Research found that out of the 10,000 information works and IT decision makers in North America studied, 46 per cent gave their employees Mac computers to work on. The research further suggested that 1 in 5 information workers use an Apple product at work. This is a significant growth spurt for the company since traditionally, Microsoft and its Windows platform have been the corporate favourites.
27 per cent of the companies surveyed supported the iPad and 31 per cent had plans to adopt it in the future. The iPhone was supported by 37 per cent of the study group and this number is expected to go up to 55 per cent this year. The popularity of the Mac has grown by half in the last 2 years alone.
The Next Web quoted analysts citing the causes for the changeover to Apple. According to experts, Apple’s sound foundation and OS across its tablet, laptop and smartphone make it a preferred brand. Corporates like its devices because they are productive and easy to use. In fact, according to Forrester Research, Apple is the leading example of how ‘consumerisation leads to enterprise adoption’.
The perfect balance that Apple strikes between work and play have put it in a leading position in the tech market, possibly for years to come. It will be interesting to see how its competitors play catch-up.
