According to New York Times, Barnes and Noble will bring out its new and improved Nook this year.
Apparently, the device will hit stores as early as this spring.
The report in the New York Times spoke about the growth and market share of the popular booksellers Barnes and Noble. Though it also talked about a new Nook in the making, it did not provide any details and specs of the device.
The report said: ‘Barnes and Noble is trying to strike at Amazon with another device. At its labs in Silicon Valley last week, engineers were putting final touches on their fifth e-reading device, a product that executives said would be released sometime this spring.’
Though no official statement has been released by Barnes and Noble, the report has got the rumour mills in the tech industry churning.
Experts are wondering if the new Nook will be a simple e-reader or a full blown tablet.
Whether it is with a sophisticated, fully loaded tablet or a simple, easy to use e-reader, it does look like Barnes and Noble is all set to shake up the tech market this spring and in the bargain, nudge Amazon just a little bit out of the way.
As the report in the Times depicts, Barnes and Noble has been successful in putting a dent in Amazon’s leading position in the market with its line of Nook devices in the past.
A new and improved gadget will help it solidify its position and further gain an edge over its competitor.
