Even before a leaked press photo of Samsung’s new smartphone could complete a round on the internet, tech experts started crying foul and claiming that the image was not the real deal.
When it first surfaced, the picture was rumoured to feature the new handset Samsung is speculated to unveil at the MWC in Barcelona later this month.
The picture appeared on tech expert Eldar Murtazin’s Twitter page and the phone in the image looked like the next big ICS device from Samsung.
That was until the guys over at Android Community came across it and declared that it wasn’t what it seemed.
According to Android Community, the screenshot on the device in the image doesn’t look anything like the ICS updates that have leaked for the Galaxy S II so far.
It says that early builds usually keep the look of Samsung’s TouchWiz intact whereas in this photo, it looks like it has merged with the Android 4.0 OS.
The new picture also depicts the dividing bar and centered app drawer from an unmodified ICS. Even Samsung’s widgets are lined up next to Android folders.
Android Community also felt that the placement of the buttons on the phone was all wrong, and unlike the designs Samsung usually follows for its international devices.
In fact, the site pulled out a shot of the Galaxy S II and found that the handset in the new image looks a lot like a modified version of the popular phone. Experts on the site even pointed out areas on the picture they felt had been tampered with.
Though Android Community’s findings are disappointing, there is still a good chance Samsung will surprise its loyalists at the MWC.
We just have to be patient and keep watching!
