Ever since Android 4.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S II was made official, we have seen a bunch of official and unofficial ROMs leak. But now, a user has accessed the official ROM and also ported it to the handset to give us a whiff of things.
Speaking of the ROM itself, it looks pretty normal with not much customization in the homescreen. We would have expected a few changes to be honest, but well that's how Samsung wants it to be. The new TouchWiz looks only slightly modified from TouchWiz 4.0 in the Galaxy S II.
The lock unlock gesture is similar to what we saw on the Galaxy Nexus and the settings folder also gives out the ICS vibe. The "swipe to delete" feature in the notifications bar has been packed into the update.
Overall it looks pretty much the same as the Gingerbread version, but I guess the addition of a few animations and features make it worthy of the wait.
The update seen on the video however isn't the final release and we could see some more changes in the final version. Other notable additions to the update include the reformed browser, added camera settings etc.
The demonstrator says that the performance is slightly improved, which is a welcome sign. The update for the Galaxy S II (along with the Galaxy Note) is expected to hit sometime during the March-April timeframe.
