Samsung's next flagship device, quad-core Galaxy S III maybe slated for a May launch.
According to the latest rumors, Samsung Galaxy S III will be featured among the thinnest smartphones in the world and the thinnest in the line up of Galaxy S series. At 7mm Galaxy S III knocks off its predecessor Galaxy S II at 8.71mm.
The news which comes via South Korea’s Electronic Times News also confirms the earlier rumored specs which included a Super AMOLED Plus display and a Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
However there are some contradictions in terms of the camera pixels. While so far we had heard that the Android smartphone will come equipped with a 12-mega pixel camera, the Korean news, reports the presence of a 8-mega pixel rear camera and a 2-mega pixel front camera.
Another rumor, which has emerged about the Galaxy S III is the addition of the waterproof coating which will aid in protecting the device against accidental exposure to liquids.
The smartphone was earlier expected to be released at Mobile World Congress this month.
However the Korean giant released a official statement last week stating that the 'successor to the Galaxy S II smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.'
According to some reports, Galaxy S III may arrive alongside a refreshed Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note.
