Windows Phone users are no longer forced to watch pixilated quality YouTube videos on their handsets since Google has allowed Microsoft devices to playback these videos in high quality.
According to Google’s new arrangement with Microsoft, devices loaded with Windows Phone 7 can playback good quality YouTube videos through the YouTube app.
The app itself is a good one, allowing smartphone users access to most of the YouTube features that are available to desktop users. The only thing handset users cannot do is upload or download YouTube videos on their phones.
WPcentral came across the option on TubeYou that allows Windows Phone users to stream content in high quality.
According to the experts on the website, even though the browser app for Windows Phone is still a v1.0, the actual streaming on HTML5 is far better than before.
In fact, a HQ option now shows up on the lower left side of a YouTube video. All a Windows Phone 7 user needs to do is click on the option to view the video in high quality.
Google and Microsoft have always been competitors in the smartphone market. Though Google is an established leader in the world of smart devices, Microsoft is still playing catch up.
Thanks to this new arrangement with Google, the software giant is sure to win favour with WP 7 users. Google, on its part, will probably also score some points for its generosity.
