Invites sent out by NVIDIA for the MWC event highly suggest that a new quad core smartphone is to be revealed

NVIDIA has been an early adopter of multi core mobile processors with the announcement of the Tegra 2 SoC last year. But within a few months, the company was ready with the next big thing i.e. the Tegra 3 quad core SoC.
Even better was ASUS' quick adoption of the chipset with the announcement of the Transformer Prime which happens to be the first official device to run on NVIDIA's quad core mobile CPU. And as most of us would have guessed, NVIDIA was getting pretty eager to get its hands onto smartphones as well.
And almost confirming the report, NVIDIA is now believed to be planning a massive unveiling of the Tegra 3 chipset running on smartphones at the MWC 2012.
NVIDIA proudly sent out invites to what is said to be another industry first announcement at Barcelona. There are quite a few manufacturers rumored to make the jump to quad core CPUs, but the ones that strike our minds are HTC and Samsung.
Phandroid suggests that the HTC Edge could be the device we will be looking at, but there's no reports confirming this, so we'll take this with a big bowl of salt for now. We all know that Samsung's Galaxy S III isn't due until May at least, so that lowers our hope even more. One thing is for sure though; the whole mobile industry will follow the event closely to see which OEM comes out with the new flagship.
