iOS 5.1 Update

Published on Feb 9, 2012

iOS updates do not happen frequently and that is my only gripe with the OS, but we all know it's not that bad.

Users have been waiting for the iOS 5.1 update ever since the 5.0.1 update was rolled out in November and it seems like Apple wants the new update to coincide with the rumored iPad 3 announcement.

Well, reports firmly suggest that the next major iOS update will be rolled out from March 9. The update promises to fix various bugs found in iDevices, including the iPhone 4S.

The first iOS 5.1 beta was rolled out at the end of November, the update is currently in its third beta. Rumors also suggest that this update will pack Siri support for the iPad 2, which to be honest seems very unlikely. The info was revealed by one of the profiles that Apple sent out to its carriers.

So what's new with iOS 5.1? Well, there's the much awaited battery draining bug which is believed to be taken care of with this update.

The most welcome of all features is the ability to remove images directly from the Photo Stream (iCloud). Your images on iCloud can be manually deleted from the Photo Stream which will also remove them from other connected devices.

There's also going to be Facebook integration, like Twitter. Users will be able to directly upload images to the connected Facebook account directly from the Camera Roll.

It seems like Apple has a lot riding on this update and only time will tell if the update will live up to the hype.
