Reports indicate that the next iPad will not feature a quad core SoC as initially rumored

So most of you thought that the Apple iPad 3 will be Apple's way of bringing in the homebrew A6 quad core processors, right? Well, we might have to scratch that from the rumor mill with recent reports suggesting that the new A6 chip will be a dual core chipset like the A5 was.
Though this is not exactly bad news, fans were certainly looking forward to this major upgrade in the iPad 3, given how the iPads always have a unique differentiating factor from other tablets out there.
That being said, the GPU on the A6 chip is said to be very powerful, which comes as a relief. The source also suggests that the new (Retina Display) iPad will be able to support a display resolution of 2048x1536 as previously rumored.
It has been almost an year since the iPad 2 broke cover with the dual core A5 processor. And its successor is likely to break cover next month at a private Apple event.
We would strongly recommend you to take this rumor with a pinch of salt for now as with any rumor out there. But it does seem unlikely that Apple would make the switch to quad cores this early in the day. However, we wouldn't disregard anything as of now since the rumor is still new and fresh.
