Leaked images of the iPad 3 show off its internal components and its external shell

A fresh leak doing the rounds of the tech world features the internal parts of the much awaited iPad 3. The leaked pictures also showcase the external back shell and what could possibly be the Retina Display of the tablet.

From the pictures that Cult of Mac published and BGR came across, it looks like the internal components of the iPad 3 will be significantly different from those of its predecessor. Externally though, it seems that the tablet will look much the same. Macotakara too put up an image of a display that could belong to the next gen tablet. At 9.7-inch, the display panel features a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels.

The leaked picture of the iPad 3’s flex cable suggests a difference in the components design vis-à-vis the iPad 2. The flex cable contains the sleep/wake button, the volume button and the mute button. The microphone of the next gen iPad is also significantly different from the microphone found on the iPad 2. The Wi-Fi components of the iPad 3 are designed differently from its predecessor too, as is its headphone jack. Pictures of the outer shell of the new iPad suggest that the tablet’s rear panel leaves more space for its battery than for its logic board.

The iPad 3 is rumoured to run on a powerful quad-core A6 processor and feature a high resolution Retina Display and an upgraded camera. The wait for the new and improved tablet should be over soon since it is expected to launch in the coming months and might even be unveiled as early as March.
