With most OEMs revealing plans of the next major Android update for its smartphones, it is now a matter of who does it first. Samsung and Sony Ericsson are well in the tow for the new update. Well, Sony Ericsson was actually one of the first OEMs to actually give a heads up back in December along with Samsung.
But today we have HTC mentioning that some of its smartphones will receive the update starting from the end of March. The models that will receive the update include the Sensation, Sensation XE and Sensation 4G.
Their bigger sibling the Sensation XL is reported to get the update later. HTC gave out the good news to its users through its Facebook page.
What's great about the announcement is the fact that HTC is also planning to upgrade older HTC handsets like the Desire HD, Desire S, Incredible S, Vivid, Amaze 4G, Rezound, EVO Design 4G, EVO 3D etc by the end of this year.
Though waiting till the end of the year isn't something that the users will be looking forward to, the fact that there's an update on the horizon is enough to go with. It comes as a surprise to us that HTC has decided to support handsets like the Desire S, Desire HD etc.
But it seems like the company is following in Sony Ericsson's footsteps. Samsung will be updating the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note to ICS in the coming months.
