We’ve seen the strangest of gadgets running on the Android platform. Take the MotoACTV for example which is an Android powered wristwatch/fitness companion by Motorola. But today we have gotten used to any such strange occurrences.

And now according to reports, Samsung wants to launch an Android powered Galaxy Camera. Samsung apparently filed for a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for something known as the Galaxy Camera a few days ago.

It would actually make sense for Samsung to cash in on the fame of the Galaxy line of devices. Samsung already has a healthy lineup of point and shoot cameras in the market. And we’re sure that something like an Android powered digital camera would be widely successful with budding photographers.

We haven’t heard from Samsung after the news broke, so we can't jump to conclusions just yet. It is noteworthy that notable camera maker Polaroid unveiled an Android powered digital camera at CES 2012. So something like a Galaxy Camera does seem very plausible.

Samsung has tried its hand at a Galaxy branded media player with the Galaxy Players which were basically a hit on Apple’s iPod Touch. But these didn’t manage to make a noise in the market. So will a Galaxy Camera manage to roll eyeballs? It does seem so for now because of the uniqueness of the idea. Let’s wait and see how things unfold.
