The Droid 4, Motorola’s latest offering, just got cooler. The recent release of new modules for the handset allows its OMAP 4 processor to overclock from the current 1.2GHz to 1.4GHz.
Even though a small jump, the move will probably make the smartphone even faster and more responsive.
Users can download the correct module for their phones from the web but should read the instructions before doing so. Developers have updated the processor of the Droid 4 using existing modules that work for OMAP 4 devices like the RAZR and Kindle Fire.
According to Briefmobile, the CPU is stable at 1.388GHz and users are able to overclock the GPU as well.
The Droid 4 is a fast device, even with its original 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It offers 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
It runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and is powered by a 1785 mAh battery.
The Droid 4 has a convenient slip out QWERTY keypad and a 4-inch TFT LCD display. Its screen has a qHD resolution of 540x960 pixels. The phone ships with an 8MP camera with LED flash and auto focus that is capable of 1080p video recording. It also features a 1.3MP front facing camera that can record HD video at 720p.
The Droid 4 is solid, well built phone, thanks to its polycarbonate base.
In many ways, the Droid 4 is Motorola’s next generation smartphone. With a 1.4GHz processor already in place, now all the company needs to do is release an ICS update to make it a must have for all smartphone enthusiasts!
