HTC PlayStation certificated smartphones are expected to be introduced by the second half of this year.
According to reports there is a possibility that the Taiwanese company will make a formal announcement about the tie-up at the upcoming Mobile World Congress this month.
If the news comes true, then HTC will become the first manufacturer outside Sony itself to get its mobile devices a PlayStation certification.
The move is likely to boost the HTC smartphones sales as owners will be able to play classic PSOne titles via integrated PlayStation Network access.
Pocket-lint leaked the news: 'for the manufacturer, it offers access to some great PlayStation games, while gamers get to relive their PSOne days, albeit on their smartphone.'
HTC has been constantly innovating itself, bringing in new technologies and giving its smartphone users an edge over the others.
In the past the company secured a license for Dr Dre's Beats Audio enhancement technology and introduced HTC Sense 4.0 with the Dropbox integration for the first time. This integration provided users free storage of up to 50GB.
There is a possibility that we may see some premium HTC devices supporting the PlayStation certification make there way to the market initially.
This partnership will work well for Sony as well, giving it visibility and a protective net in case of any potential losses in the smartphone front.
