MWC 2012: Top 10 mobile phones likely to be showcased

Huawei, LG, HTC, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson will compete to show off their best inventions at MWC 2012

With MWC 2012 just around the corner, the tech world is abuzz with rumours of new and improved smartphones scheduled to be unveiled in Barcelona. We round up the top 10 mobiles likely to make it to Spain.

1. Huawei Ascend D Q: The fastest and most powerful of all Huawei devices, the Ascend D Q is expected to be quad-core device in the company’s new Diamond series

2. LG Optimus 3D 2: Slim, sleek and light, this phone is believed to feature a HD AH-IPS display and offer upgraded 3D features.

3. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD: Powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, this handset is speculated to run Android Gingerbread and head for an ICS update. It most likely sports a HD 1280X720 pixel screen and a 12MP camera.

4. LG x3: LG X3 will be a next generation device, powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. The handset will clock in at 1.5GHz with a single-core and fall to 1.4GHz on multi-core usage while IDLE task operations will help save its battery life. Running on a 2000 mAh battery, the phone will sport Android’s ICS OS.

5. HTC Ville: This is rumoured to be HTC’s slimmest phone till date with a thickness of less than 8mm. It is also believed to sport a 1.5GHz dual core processor and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen.

6. HTC Zeta: This smartphone is expected to give all others a run for their money with its reported 2.5GHz quad-core processor, ICS OS and 4.5-inch screen.

7. HTC Edge: With a Tegra 3 processor on board, the Edge is expected to run on the ICS OS. It most likely sports an 8MP camera and a 1280x720 pixel screen.

8. Nokia Lumia 610: Nokia’s handset for the budget smartphone market, the Lumia 610 is rumoured to run on Windows Phone Tango.

9. Nokia Lumia 900: Powered by Windows Phone Mango, the Lumia 900 will probably make an appearance at the MWC. Equipped with a 4.3-inch display and Carl Zeiss optics, it first appeared at the CES 2012.

10. Nokia 808: The Nokia 808 PureView will succeed the N8 and mark the end of the Symbian line. It will run on Nokia’s Symbian Belle OS and sport a powerful 12MP camera.

Apart from these, Nokia is also expected to launch 3 new features phone in its Asha line. These include the QWERTY Asha 302, Asha 203 and Asha 202. Stay tuned to KYMI for more updates on the MWC!
