The tech world is abuzz with rumours of Nokia’s plans for the upcoming MWC in Barcelona. The Lumia 610 is speculated to be the company’s next budget Windows Phone device powered by its new Tango operating system.

Though not too many details are known about the specs of the Lumia 610, it is believed to offer everything a basic Windows Phone handset can. The phone will be powered by Tango, which itself is speculated to be unveiled at the MWC. Tango has been in the news for a long time and it is expected to help Nokia and Microsoft penetrate deeper into the market segment of reasonably priced smartphones.

Its developers are hoping that Tango will bring the Windows Phone experience seamlessly to smaller, less sophisticated handsets with slower processors and lower resolutions. In fact, Tango needs only 256MB of RAM to work effectively. Microsoft has presumably redesigned the Live Tiles and media controls on Tango to make the OS user friendly and easy-to-use.

Media controls on Tango will most likely be made smaller so that they take up little screen space. The controls might even appear on the top of the screen like notifications. With Tango, users will also be able to create ‘folders’ on the home screens of their phones and sort Live Tiles into these for easy access. A folder will show a consolidated list of notifications from all the tiles that it holds, making the screen clutter-free.

With Tango in line to power it, the Lumia 610 might easily become Nokia’s best selling device, especially since it will most probably be priced at less than Rs. 10,000/- We will keep a look out for the specs of the smartphone and bring them to you as soon as they are leaked / released. Stay tuned for our coverage of the MWC 2012 in Barcelona!
