LG is gearing itself for a comeback in the smartphone world this year with an estimated 8 new handsets. In fact, it has already confirmed details of some of the devices, a week before the official unveiling event in Barcelona.

Most of LG’s new offerings are Android based. The Optimus Vu is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and runs on Gingerbread. It sports a massive 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. The slim smartphone also houses a built-in stylus and an 8MP camera.

The Optimus LTE Tag is the world’s first HD LTE-capable smartphone with a 4.3-inch WVGA IPS capacitive display. It supports NFC, DLNA, Bluetooth and Mobile High Definition Link and offers 16GB of internal storage. Powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, it runs on Gingerbread as well. Users can use the phone’s Tags to change its settings.

LG 3D Max, the successor to last year’s Optimus 3D, is thinner than its predecessor at 9.8mm and gorgeous with a HD Super IPS display.

LG is bringing 3 new smartphones to the market under the Optimus L Series. The L3, L5 and L7 will feature displays of 3.2-inch, 4-inch and 4.3-inch respectively. The latter two will run Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

A Windows Phone handset is also being worked upon by LG and will most likely be called either LG Fantasy or LG Miracle. The device will run on Mango and be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It will offer 8GB of internal storage and support NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The phone will ship with a 4-inch NOVA touchscreen with an 800x480 WVGA resolution.

Last but certainly not the least is the LG X3 or the Optimus 4X HD. Powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, this ICS smartphone is considered the best LG device by Knowyourmobile.com. This handsome handset is believed to sport an 8MP camera and a huge 4.7-inch HD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

With everything on offer from LG, the conference in Barcelona is bound to get extremely interesting. Stay tuned as we bring you breaking LG news straight from MWC 2012!
