The first one in the Buddy series is Airfone AQ9 which is a dual-SIM phone equipped with 1.8 inch QVGA 256k colour screen display. The key features of Buddy AQ9 include wireless FM, MP3 player with surround sound, one touch access to MP3 player & FM radio, five LED torch, durable battery life and expandable memory. The device features integrated Mobee.in interface to operate mails (Gmail, Yahoo, Lotus notes etc.) for users.

On the spec front, Airfone AQ9 handset is multimedia rich device with speaker phone, sound recorder and ear phone. The device comes with a talk time of 3-4 hrs and standby time of 1 card 250 hrs / 2 card 150 hrs. It has a phone book capacity of 500 and 100 SMS entries. The device is MMS enabled and comes with standard charger and warranty card.

According to Airfone India Director Mr. Vishal Chitkara, "With the launch of our Buddy Series phones and tie up with mobee enables us to offer the most competitively priced push email service. A full Qwerty keyboard phone with features like Dual SIM, Mp3 player at around 2000 is something is still unheard of".

The next Buddy series device, Airfone AQ9+ comes with somewhat similar features as that of AQ9 model. However, the device displays a slightly larger 2.0 inch QVGA colour screen compared to AQ9. Again a dual-SIM phone, Airfone AQ9+ offers talk time up to 5 hrs and standby time for 5-7 days. Bearing identical specs as that of AQ9, Airfone AQ9+ comes with phone book capacity of 300 and 100 SMS entries. The device is equipped with 1200 mAh battery and operates mail accounts with support of Mobee interface.

Available in red & black colours, Airfone AQ9 and AQ9+ models are offered at an extremely low price bracket of Rs. 2000 and Rs 2500 respectively in India.
