Micromax has partnered with Israel-based Modu to Launch Modu T in India - the world's lightest 3.5G touchscreen mobile phone

The Modu T, which is smaller than a credit card, proudly claims to be the smallest touchscreen mobile phone. It also features in the Guinness Book of World Record for being the lightest touchscreen smartphone in the world.The phone is smaller than a credit card and comes in 3,5G version. Its small 1.3 inch screen bids goodbye to the big-is-beautiful paradigm associated with touchscreen devices."Innovation has been a driver for Micromax success in India and we believe that by bringing the modu T phone to India, we are targeting the 'aspirational' segment of Indian consumers, who are the early adopters of technology and passionate about electronic gadgets," said Vikas Jain, business director, Micromax.Modu T comes with only basic, built-in applications and content to the user. You need to use 'extra jackets' to enhance its features, but you need to spend more to use these 'extra jackets'. The 'camerafy' jacket helps convert the phone into a camera with a 5 megapixel resolution and LED flash. With the 'sportfy' jacket, you can turn your modu T phone into your exercise companion.Furthrmore, the users would possess the ability to use the mini phone as a music player, photo frame and digital camera by using jackets that work well with the PC.The tiny device measures just 72.1mm (H) x 37.6mm (W) x 7.8mm (D). It comes with a 2.2 inch touchscreen display and memory card slot for external memory card (capability up to 32GB). The handset packs 2GB of on-board memory, Bluetooth and an MP3 player. The user interface is widget-based with camera, sports and fashion cases upgrading the functionality of the phone.The modular Modu T phone runs Qualcomm's Brew operating system. Users of this device can get access to a variety of applications such as YouTube, Google Search, Twitter, Facebook Flickr, TuneWiki, eBuddy and Snaptu.The Micromax Modu T is priced at about Rs.12,000 in the Indian market. The device will be available in the market with pre-bundled 2GB memory card from Oct 22.
