Samsung has launched a bargain basement touchscreen phone for under Rs 10,000 - welcome to the curiously-named Samsung Corby S3650. The Samsung Corby features a resistive 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen TFT with a 256,000 colour palette and a resolution of 240 by 320. There's also a basic 2 megapixel fixed focus camera - without a flash - which can record QVGA video at 15 frames per second. The multimedia specifications might be a little underwhelming - but it's still an amazing achievement to deliver a touchscreen phone at a sub-10,000 rupee price point. It will undoubtedly appeal to the millions of people in India who want a phone that looks and feels like an Apple iPhone at a fraction of the price - which is essentially what the Corby offers. Young people are the prime target market for the Samsung Corby and it is available in a variety of five increasingly garish colours. "Samsung has its target audiences at the heart of its business strategy and the design and functionality of Samsung Corby meets the needs of a highly connected and style-conscious youth audience," said Samsung India director B.D. Park. The Corby comes preloaded with a raft of internet and social media applications including YouTube, Facebook and Gmail - which is a little surprising given that there's no 3G or wi-fi. All online connections have to go via EDGE. Ultimately you do get what you pay for... Check out our Samsung Corby review
