Images and details have surfaced on the AdvanceTC Magic W3 tablet smartphone, and it's a curious beast. The tabletphone boasts Windows 7 as its operating system, not Windows Phone 7 as one might expect. It also has an impressive 1.6GHz Atom Z530 CPU, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and 1GB of RAM, as well as a sizeable 3,200mAh battery to ensure it doesn't need to be plugged in to the mains 24/7. Using Windows 7 on a smartphone might seem like a bad idea, and that may well be the case, but it does attempt to make things slightly less difficult with a 4.8-inch screen and AdvanceTC's custom UI for dealing with phone calls. And it also has the ability to become a nettop PC if you connect it with an HDMI cable - a very useful feature, which can also be found on the Motorola Atrix. Before users wanting a pocket PC start pre-ordering the device, hold your horses. Advance TC hasn't said whether the Magic device will be going into production at all. If it does, we will let you know.
