Leading Indian mobile phone provider Tata DoCoMo has today announced the expansion of its GSM network into Haryana - its first venture into the northern region. Tata DoCoMo's GSM service coverage spans 386 towns and cities and more than 1750 villages in Haryana as well as 1800km of highways and 400km of the region's rail network. The company, a joint venture between India's Tata and Japan's DoCoMo, plans to roll out the network to Fathebad and Sirsa when it gets available wireless spectrum slots. The move is part of Tata's ambition to achieve a full pan-India service by the end of 2009. "We have spent Rs 300 crore on launching our GSM mobile in Haryana as part of our $2 billion capital expenditure plans outlined over a period of two years on launching services," said Managing Director Anil Sardana. Tata DoCoMo, which is the fastest growing Indian mobile phone carrier, also announced a new 'pay-as-you-go' tariff with a pulse of one second and rates starting at just 1 paisa per second.
