Images of the upcoming version 2.0 of the Android OS have been leaked. Boy Genius Report - the popular US blog - has posted a huge series of screengrabs from the new version of the smartphone operating system in action, demonstrating exactly what’s different in this iteration. Microsoft Exchange support is included natively now, which is good news for anyone looking to use an Android phone as a work device. Significant speed improvements have been noted too, with Boy Genius Report commenting that the device they got to test the OS out on demonstrated speed perilously close to those of the iPhone 3GS. The Maps function has been improved too, with the addition of layers so that you can check out more information at the same time. Of course, these improvements are to the vanilla version of the Android OS, but we expect that it won’t take long for the major manufacturers’ takes on the platform to get up to speed with any genuinely new improvements.
