Google, HTC and Verizon entered into a collaboration to unveil the tablet, powered by Google's Chrome operating system. The as-yet-unnamed Google tablet would pose a challenge to Apple's iPad and it is expected to be heavily subsidized for buyers who opt for purchasing the device with a monthly data plan from Verizon. The tablet is expected to be introduced in November on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, which is the start of the holiday shopping season. Reportedly, the device may arrive with an attractive slew of features including a minimum storage of 32GB, 2GB of RAM and 1280 X 720 multitouch display. Google and HTC have teamed up to develop phones, which run on Google's Android operating system, thereby giving Apple a tough competition. Verizon is a strong follower of Android phones, which draws battle lines between Verizon and AT&T, which enjoys exclusive iPhone rights in the US. In the coming months, Samsung is reported to showcase a new Android 2.2 device named Samsung Galaxy Tablet at a consumer electronics show in Berlin in September. The Chrome OS was introduced to power notebooks, not tablets, but some analysts found that Chrome could support both of them. However, Apple unveiled the iPad in April and sold about 3 million units within first 80 days, thereby hailing the touchscreen device as a new paradigm for computing.
