Samsung unveiled a new Android-based pico projector phone i8520 Beam aka Halo at MWC. However, couple of months back, Samsung launched AMOLED Beam projector phone in the Koran market. Samsung has now officially launched its Android-based pico projector smartphone - Samsung Galaxy Beam, which will be released soon in the Asian markets.Using technology from Texas Instruments, Samsung Galaxy Beam offers movies through pico projector that offers 6 lumens brightness and it can project images anywhere from 5 to 50 inches. Samsung's pico projector phone runs Android 2.1 with a TouchWiz 3.0. Equipped with a 3.7 inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen display, the device supports a DLP pico projector with a customized interface for the low-res but large screen area. Integrated with an 8 megapixel camera with HD video recording, Samsung Galaxy Beam comes with 16GB of internal memory with MicroSD support up to 32 GB. Enabled with HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS, the device offers FM Radio with RDS, 3.5mm ear jack and 3D Sound Effect with dual speaker.Equipped with Divx/Xvid, Samsung Beam is enabled with Bluetooth v2.1 and high speed USB 2.0. The device packs A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Specialized Projector UI, Hybrid Widgets, IM, Email, DLNA, Samsung Kies and push email service. Samsung Galaxy Beam is loaded with 1800 mAh battery with talk time up to 470 mins and standby time up to 530 hrs (on 3G mode).Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520 will be launched first in Singapore next month. The device is expected to hit European and Asian markets in the third quarter.
