Acer's DX900 will run Windows Mobile and feature dual-SIM cards

Published on Mar 17, 2011

Earlier we have informed you that Acer is foraying into the smartphone market and now it has been leaked that one of the handsets from Acer's new smartphone division will be called the DX900. Though Acer does not have a presence in the Indian mobile phone market, still the expected launch will excite the operators here. The smartphone is believed to be run on the Windows Mobile operating system. The previously unknown DX900 features dual SIM card slots and will allow simultaneous connection to two networks, so for example, if you wanted to use one SIM for calls and one for internet/data usage, or one for travelling and one for at home then now you can.  According to sources, apart from Dual-SIM  the handset will also feature a VGA display (size unspecified), Wi-Fi, and GPS, as per the sources available to us. Connectivity-wise, the DX900 will be packing 3G/HSDPA capability as well as the slower GSM/EDGE alternative. Possibly one of the only down points is that the on board camera is only 3-megapixels which might seem a little below-par if Samsung do as predicted and announce a 12-megapixel cameraphone. It has not been confirmed which version of the Microsoft OS Acer will run on the DX900 but there's a good chance that it will be the newer Windows Mobile 6.5 which is due to be announced at the Mpbile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona. All will be revealed at MWC over the coming weeks and we'll keep you informed of any updates as we learn more.
