Tata DoCoMo, Disney and ACK Media team up to launch Comix On The Go - delivering multimedia comic strips on mobile phones

Tata DoCoMo has teamed up with publishers Disney and ACK Media to launch a range of interactive comics that can be viewed on mobile phones. Comix To Go will initially work on relatively high-end Nokia S60 phones such as the N97 and offers a modest multimedia experience that includes voice bubbles, sound effects and theme songs over and above the basic comic text and images. The comics on offer include properties such as Cars and Mickey Mouse as well as Indian titles such as Suppandi, Akbar Birbal, Panchtantra and Devi. Prices were not released but screen shots suggest that subscriprtions could start from as little as Rs 10 a year. The Comix On The Go service is expected to launch before Diwali.
