Country's leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel has joined hands with AeroMobile, an UK based mobile solutions provider which would enable Bharti to offer mobile service in flight travels. Once operational, Bharti's users can make or receive calls while travelling by flight. This makes Airtel India's first operator to offer this kind of service. The call tariffs are bit high at this moment as you need to cough up Rs 188 per minute for an outgoing call and have to spend Rs 24 for an incoming call. Outgoing SMS would cost you Rs 41 but the incoming SMS would be free of cost. The service can be availed on select airlines and to certain destinations as AeroMobile has tied up with few airlines like Quantas, Emirates, Turkish and Malaysia Airlines. However, you can not use the service on Indian air space as currently mobile connectivity on Indian air space is not permitted.
