CMA 2009: Huawei launches Android phone

Huawei unveils two smart phones at the CommunicAsia event, one runs on Android and the other on Windows OS

Chinese telecom company Huawei joined the Android bandwagon by launching a smart phone based on Google's mobile operating system, at the CommunicAsia event in Singapore. The Huawei Android phone, U8230 features two type of QWERTY keypad, one full and one half, which allows users to switch between them depending upon user's preference and convinience and features a 3.5 inch LCD touch screen. The handset uses the Google Chrome browser which supports a variety of Google applications such as Google Maps, Google Search and Google Talk. Huawei uses a 1500mAH battery in this phone and claims it provides the longest power back up to an Android-powered mobile phone available in the market at present. The other smartphone that Huawei launched is C8000 and runs on Windows OS. It features a 2.8 inch LCD touch screen with a 3D interface. The company claims the phone can run video files continuously for six to eight hours at a stretch.
