Apple delays the international launch of the iPad by a month to late May. No word yet on India iPad prices or launch date...

Apple has delayed the international launch of the iPad in order to satisfy high consumer demand in the US where the tablet is out of stock in many outlets. The iPad's international launch date - originally scheduled for 'late April' - has been postponed a month to 'late May'. However a specific India release date for the iPad has not been forthcoming. However Apple revealed that comumers can start pre-ordering the iPad on May 10, on which date prices for the Wi-Fi and 3G models will also be revealed for the UK and other territories. Again India iPad prices may or may not be released on that date. "Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks," Apple said in a statement. "Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May." Funnily enough the US responded well to the delay announcement. Apple shares rose 1.2% to $245.24 in premarket trade on Wednesday - presumably because the move indicates just how high demand for the iPad remains.
