The first virus to hit the Android OS platform is officially known as Trojan-SMS.ANdroidOS.FakePlayer.a. Cyber security firm Kapersky Lab confirms that it has already infected a number of Android handsets. The Trojan malware infecting Android handsets comes disguised as a media player app. It prompts users to install a 13KB .APK file. Once users download this file, the virus then sends costly text messages to premium numbers, which results in inflated bills for the users.Reportedly, the Kaspersky Lab has stated that it is actively developing technologies and solutions to protect this operating system and plans to release Kaspersky Mobile Security for Android in early 2011.
