Nokia has launched its new N86 8GB handset, featuring an 8-megapixel camera. The dizzying increases in the megapixel capabilities of handsets are starting to cause a certain numb reaction to the specs, but more interestingly, the N86 8GB will be the first 8MP camerphone to feature a 28mm lens.Director of the Nseries, Juha-Pekka Sipponen claims that the phone's camera will be "comparable to that of a high-quality, stand-alone digital camera". The lens also boasts a variable aperture, another first in cameraphones that pushes its capabilities nearer to those of a dedicated digital camera. For low light conditions, there's also a built-in dual LED flash. As the phone's name suggests, it'll come with 8GB of memory built-in, with a microSD slot that can cope with up to 16GB cards. Whether a cameraphone can claim to have true stand-alone performance when it doesn't feature optical zoom capabilities is a question to ask, but thanks to the quality Carl Zeiss lens, non-zoomed images should offer good levels of sharpness and detail. The N86 8GB also has a TV-out for viewing your photos on an external screen, plus an integrated kick-stand for watching any videos on the move. Though the availability of this handset in India is not yet announced, pricewise it would sell at around Rs 27,000
