Published on Mar 17, 2011

Universal Music and Reliance Communications signed a partnership agreement for offering access to its digital music library on the operator's platform. The deal will enable Universal to develop music-related properties as well as increase its profits by making its music catalogue accessible.             "Universal has a global catalogue of 300,000 tracks and it will be offered to the customers called Simply Music. Additionally, we will have music concerts in India and with 3G rollout users will have access to these live concerts," said Rob Wells, senior vice-president - digital, Universal Music Group International. RCom too, will earn revenues as its subscribers would utilize the services. Investments would be made by both the parties for delivering 360-degree music experience across all the platforms including IVR, web, WAP, voice, blog and through on-ground events. These services, when fully operational, would allow subscribers to enjoy access to live concerts, music downloads, ringtones on 3G mobile phones and video streaming.
