Nokia has previewed a Symbian UI update in China. The new UI will be pushed out to devices to calm down Symbian fans outraged by Nokia's move to Windows Phone 7. The elements shown off include redesigned homescreen widgets such as the weather, inbox, active browser and Facebook icons. The email application has also been overhauled, bringing it bang up to date to compete with other smartphone platforms of the world. Earlier in the week, a Symbian exec said the platform wouldn't be dissolved, but would help Nokia along as Windows Phone 7 devices were in development. Nokia plans to release a number of lower cost Windows Phone 7 devices to reach all sectors of the market.
