Sony Ericsson unveils a new high-end smartphone - the Xperia X10 - powered by Google's Android OS

Sony Ericsson has launched the Xperia X10, the latest in its smartphone-standard phones. The Xperia X10 uses Google's Android OS and is overlayed with Sony Ericsson's own UX platform. UX includes a number of new features including Sony Ericsson Timescape, which, like Motorola's MotoBLUR, manages all your communication with one person in one place, including Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts. This can be controlled with the 'infinite button' that will appear on all handsets featuring Timescape. Another aspect of UX is Sony Ericsson Mediascape, where you can get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favourite friends and artists using your phone, YouTube and PlayNow. Other features include: 8.1 megapixel camera with 16x digital zoom, face recognition and touchfocus Stereo Bluetooth PlayNow TrackID Google suite of apps including homescreen search, Google Talk, Google Media Uploader and Google Voice Search Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Accelerometer Gesture control 4-inch, 480 x 854 pixel touchscreen A-GPS with trial version of Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation Google Maps with Street View 3.5 mm audio jack 1GB internal memory, with 8GB memory card in box Google Android version 1.6 OS 119x63x13 mm 135 grams Wi-Fi The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is expected to be available early next year.
