Samsung will be showing two new handsets at Mobile World Congress this year, including a 12-megapixel device

Samsung is rumoured to be gearing up to show two new feature-rich camera phones at Mobile World Congress 09 later in the month. According to information posted on the Dutch site GSMHelpdesk.nl one of the two devices to be shown will be Samsung's first 12-megapixel camera. There's no mention of other camera goodies such as autofocus, flash, smile/face detection but we imagine that it will probably come with these as standard. The second handset will feature an 8-megapixel snapper and is based upon the existing INNOV8 model. This handset is camera-centric also and unlike most other phones will be offering 3X optical zoom. According to the Dutch site, the 8-megapixel handset will most likely run on the Symbian OS whereas the 12-megapixel will definitely not be running on Symbian. Does this mean that Samsung will unveil a new flagship device running an in-house OS? These are just rumours, but GSM Helpdesk has good form in rumour mill predictions and we think that they are probably onto something here. Whether or not we'll get more than an average phone with a larger than average camera sensor crowbarred in remains to be seen, but fingers crossed we'll find out in just a few short weeks.
