Samsung expands its Galaxy series with the introduction of Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 in the Android-powered handset segment of India

After the successful launch of Samsung Wave and Galaxy S, Samsung introduced 2 new phones in the Galaxy range - Samsung Galaxy 3 and Samsung Galaxy 5. The move would enable the South Korean handset manufacturer to tap the growing Android market in India. The devices are launched at a time when Blackberry services are under scrutiny for security reasons and there is a huge demand for Android devices. Both Samsung Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 run on Android 2.1 platform. Samsung Galaxy 3 (I5801) offers a 3.2 inches QVGA LCD display and sports a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and digital zoomPresetted shot capabilities. The Samsung Galaxy 3 handset supports various video formats such as DivX/Xvid and MPEG as well as audio formats such as MP3, AAC, FM Radio with 3.5mm jack. For connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, USB and AllShare are provided to the user of both the handsets. The Galaxy 3 is packed with a 1500mAh Li-Ion battery and supports memory of about 170MB with MicroSD up to 32GB. The new Galaxy phone is equipped with unique abilities such as Accelometer and Ambient Light Sensor. Samsung Galaxy 3 mobile phone is expected to be available for sale in the price range of about Rs. 12,300.                       Samsung Galaxy 5 comes with a 2.8 inches QVGA LCD display and includes a 2 megapixel FF camera. The device supports the same audio formats as Galaxy 3, besides supporting various video formats such as MPEG and H.263/264. Samsung Galaxy 5 (I5503) is powered with a 1200mAh L-Ion battery and offers 170MB memory as well as MicroSD up to 16GB. In addition, both the phones portray some common features such as Social Hub, Google Services, Android Market, AGPS, Touch Wiz 3.0 user interface, Augmented Reality with Layar Reality Browser. Samsung Galaxy 5 will be available in the Indian market in the estimated price band of Rs. 10,200.
